SIENA
SUMMER
CAMP

What and where is Siena Summer Camp?

The New Oxford School’s Siena Summer Camp is a day camp for 6 – 11 year olds with theme-based activities organized by our English-speaking staff. All activities take place at “Orto de’ Pecci” park, a unique green area adjacent to the historical center of Siena making it convenient for those staying both in and out of the center. We are privileged to have access to large grassy fields, a medieval garden, a small petting zoo, indoor rooms, and a restaurant which serves us breakfast and lunch.

Who goes to Siena Summer Camp?

Most of our campers are Italian children who are learning English, but we also get a few native English speakers who reside in Italy or who have come here on vacation with their families.

What are the benefits for children who already know English?

English-speaking campers will learn how to interact in a bilingual atmosphere, a fundamental skill in today’s world. There is a lot of talk about teaching cultural diversity, but Siena Summer Camp is a life-changing experience where kids actually “live” it. Groups are small and English-speaking campers’ integration with locals is facilitated by our staff, helping to break down any cultural and language barriers, and increasing children’s confidence and self-esteem. English is the functional language, so there are no issues communicating with staff, and through peer interaction English-speaking children end up learning some Italian as well. Campers are constantly engaged and participate in a wide variety of activities which range from performance art, team building, crafts, to fitness and even yoga! Most importantly… it’s a ton of fun!
